If Saudi win 1-0, a 3-0 win would be good enough for us. If they win 2-1, 3-2 etc we need to win 4-0.

Putting aside our woeful performance, I'm glad Japan got to the world cup. I respect them and everything they've done with football, especially their massive advances they've made since the 90s. Good country all around.
Let's hope our mutual respect for each other will result in Japan putting in a respectful performance next week to help us qualify too.

Firstly we need the 3 points. Saudi and pressure don't mix at all. They might be at home but Japan will be determined to impress. I can guarantee those players know they're auditioning for the WC squad.

Tony Popovic would be far better suited to the rigors of Asian WC qualifying. A strong defence, no bullshit passing out from the back at every opportunity and play on the counter. That's how you beat these teams.

Juric had a tap in on 70 but he went to ground early and Sakai got to it. So close. Disappointed. Everything that wasn't vital for victory worked. We had possession, won lots of ball and got into their area. Nothing critical was done well.
