Akashi Motojiro

Akashi Motojiro is a well-known military officer for his intelligence activities (Akashi maneuver) against Russia
during the Russo-Japanese War.
Akashi was appointed as military attache in Japanese Legation in France in 1901 (34th year of Meiji) and was transferred as
military attache in Japanese Legation in Russia in the next year.
After the Russo-Japanese War broke out, he moved from Russia to Sweden, a neutral country.
Akashi continued to stay in Stockholm and establish connections with Russian revolutionary parties.
He supported their activities by providing funds. He died in 1919 (8th year of Taisho) at the age of 55.
