米当局者らによると、ロシア地上軍はこの１カ月で期待したような戦果を挙げていないことから、プーチン大統領は勝利を印象付ける必要に迫られ、東部に重点を移す可能性が高い。米当局がつかんだ情報では、対独戦勝記念日の５月９日が目標とみられる。
一方、欧州のある国防当局者は「戦況や和平交渉の状況にかかわらず、プーチン氏は５月９日に戦勝パレードを実施するだろう」としたうえで、「パレードにはどの部隊や車両が参加するというのだろう」と疑問を投げ掛けた。

朝日新聞は昨年10月に米ラスベガス、今年1月に米アリゾナ州でワトキンス氏にインタビューした。また、ワトキンス氏を知る複数の関係者の証言を得て、本人が「Q」かどうかを見極める取材を進めた。
ワトキンス氏は米国生まれで、幼い頃からコンピューターに親しんでいた。父親のジム氏（58）は元軍人で、米国内で引っ越しをくり返していたという。西部ワシントン州の高校を卒業後、中国で「10年近く」過ごしたといい、中国語が堪能だ。その後、一時的にフィリピンに居住。また、昨秋ごろまでに5年ほど、札幌に暮らしていた。

ワトキンス氏はジム氏とともに、日本の匿名掲示板「2ちゃんねる」の管理・運営に携わっていた。さらに2014年からは、英語圏の似たような掲示板である「8chan（ちゃん）」（後に「8kun=くん」と改称）の管理を担った。
8ちゃんや8くんは、謎の人物「Q」の投稿先だった。ワトキンス氏は管理人の権限を使い、「このQは本物のQだ」と認めたほか、Qアノンが大きな社会問題となる中でも、投稿を禁じることなく掲示板の維持に奔走した。

英首相官邸報道官によると、ジョンソン氏のキーウ訪問は「ウクライナの人々との団結を示すため」で、会談ではウクライナに対する財政・軍事支援を表明。英国はこれまでに対戦車・地対空ミサイルを計1万基以上提供するなど、武器支援を積極的に進めている。
