It was a very cold winter day. The wind was howling around the
house, the snow was drifting out in the yard. The Queen sat happily
sewing at her window. These were happy days as she knew her baby was
expected soon. As she sat sawing at the window she suddenly pricked
her finger. Blood squirted onto the snow on the windowsill. When she
spotted the red blood and white snow and the black window frame she
wished herself a very pretty baby. She said: "I wish my baby will be
a little girl with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and
hair as black as the window frame." The Queen's baby was born, The
baby was a beautiful little girl with white skin, red lips and black

hair. The King's court was delighted, celebrations continued for
days after the baby was born. The King and Queen were really happy
and they called the baby Snow White. Unfortunately while Snow White
was yet a little girl her mother died. The King married a new Queen
soon after his wife died. The new Queen was a wicked lady who made
Snow White very unhappy. She was a mysterious lady. One of her
mysteries was that she had a magic mirror which spoke to her.
Everyday see stood before it and said: "Mirror, mirror on the wall,
who is the best looking of all in the land?" The mirror would reply:
"You, oh best looking are the most beautiful in the land" Snow White
grew into a girl just as her mother had wished. The King was

delighted; however, the new Queen seemed very jealous of the beauty
she saw in Snow White. When the Queen stood before the mirror one
day she received to her great surprise a different answer: "Although
you are beautiful, my Queen, Snow White is more beautiful than you."
The Queen was furious and plotted against the little girl. She sent
for one of her hunters and told him to take Snow White into the dark
forest. She ordered him to kill Snow White and bring back her heart.
The hunter was reluctant to do so and worried about the prospect of
killing little Snow White. He led the little girl into the forest.
She was terrified and asked: "Where are we going?" The hunter
replied: "The Queen asked me to kill you in the forest." "Oh please
don't kill me please, please!!", she pleaded with the hunter. "Don't
worry little princess," said the hunter in an assuring tone, "I
could not kill you, yet if don't I might die if the Queen finds out
I didn't kill you. So I've decided to let you go far into the
forest. Hopefully the Queen will never find you. Then I will kill a

boar and take its heart back to the Queen." Snow White said
good-bye to the hunter and ran as hard as she could. It was very
dark in the forest, she was afraid, yet relieved that she was not
killed by the hunter. Eventually she reached a clearing where she
saw a little cottage. She was reluctant to see who might be inside.
Building courage she walked up the garden path knocked on the door.
There was no answer so she turned the handle and stepped inside. She
was surprised to find it open and even more surprised with what
she found inside. It was a small cottage but inside it was very
clean and tidy. There were seven little chairs drawn up to a little
table, with seven little plates, spoons, knives and forks set on it.
At the other side of the room she saw seven little beds. The beds
looked comfortable and as Snow White was very tired, she curled
herself up on three of the beds. She was soon snoozing away, The

cottage belonged to seven little dwarfs that dug for diamonds in
the mountains all day long. The dwarfs arrived back home in the
evening and to their great surprise found Snow White sleeping on
their beds. When she woke up she found the seven little men staring
at her. The dwarfs were so kind that she soon was telling them all
about the wicked Queen who had planned to kill her. The dwarfs were
delighted at meeting such a beautiful girl. They decided that it
would be best for her to stay with them and help them do the chores
around the house. Snow White lived a happy life with the dwarfs.
She cooked and washed and repaired them. They loved her for all she
did for them and life was ...
