Japan's future Destroyers and Submarines at CNE 2024

Interview with Vice Admiral Shinichi IMAYOSHI on the future Destroyers and Submarines for the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), during the Combined Naval Event (CNE) 2024.

VADM IMAYOSHI is the Director General of Naval Systems at the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA). ATLA is an agency established under the Japanese Ministry of Defense that handles project management. The future destroyer project is known as 13DDX. Its focus will be air defense. The future submarine project is known as 1X SS. It will be fitted with VLS to launch stand off missiles. They will operated alongside XLUUV.
