disclosed plans to fill the resulting capability gap with E-2D Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft assigned to a joint unit.

In America’s armed forces, the E-2D, which is designed primarily for aircraft carrier-based operations, is currently only in service with the U.S. Navy.
