The Luftwaffe lost 143 pilots killed and missing, while 70 were captured and 21 wounded including t hree Geschwaderkommodore, five Gruppenkommandeure, and 14 Staffelkapitane?the largest single-day loss for the Luftwaffe. Many of the formation leaders lost were experienced veterans, which placed even more pressure on those who were left. Thus, Bodenplatte was a very short-term success but a long-term failure; Allied losses were soon made up. Lost Luftwaffe aircraft and pilots were irreplaceable. German historian Gerhard Weinberg wrote that it left the Germans “weaker than ever and incapable of mounting any major attack again”.

The first air-drop missions met opposition from Japanese fighters and some transport aircraft were forced to turn back but three squadrons of Spitfires, operating from new airfields around Chittagong, gained air superiority over the battlefield. Sixty-five Japanese aircraft were claimed shot down or damaged for the loss of three Spitfires (though the Japanese fighters also shot down several Hawker Hurricane fighter-bombers and other aircraft.) [12] Whatever the true figures, the Japanese fighters were quickly driven from the area.[2] 0322名無し三等兵2018/07/09(月) 00:16:42.99ID:acUGPJ6h>>319 戦闘機だけ抜き出しても P-38 1機 スピットファイア5機 ハリケーン13機 P-51 2機 A-36A 1機

The value of Allied air power had been demonstrated, and was to be a vital factor in the overall Allied victory in the Burma campaign. At the Japanese surrender meetings in Rangoon on 11 September 1945, [17] Major General Ichida read a statement which identified two unforeseen and vital factors which had put the Japanese at a "disastrous disadvantage":
(a) Allied air supply, which permitted ground forces in Burma to consolidate their positions without being forced to retreat and thus rendered the enemy's infiltration and encircling tactics abortive. (b) Allied air superiority, which so disrupted Japanese supply lines, both in Burma and further afield, that starvation and illness overtook thousands of Japanese troops facing Fourteenth Army and also denied them the essential supplies of fuel, equipment and material with which to fight a better equipped and supplied, Allied Force. 0329名無し三等兵2018/07/09(月) 00:38:18.89ID:acUGPJ6h>>326 (though the Japanese fighters also shot down several Hawker Hurricane fighter-bombers and other aircraft.) 損害を水増ししたり、上の一文を抜くような姑息な手段をしてはいけないよねw

Western air and naval forces tended to suffer a much higher percentage of deaths among their combat casualties than did Western ground forces. The U.S. Navy lost 31,157 killed in action out of a total of 62,858 combat casualties in the Pacific, a figure of nearly 50%. The U.S. Army Air Forces lost 15,694 dead and missing out of a total of 24,230 casualties in the Pacific, a figure of 65%. http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/C/a/Casualties.htm0342名無し三等兵2018/07/09(月) 01:10:10.54ID:acUGPJ6h>>341 一方爆撃機の損失率を見るとベルリンの 6.6 パーセントに対し、日本主要都市全体で 1.9 パーセント、東京空襲の数値は 3.3 パーセントである。
Aggregate United States plane losses during the course of the Pacific war, not including training losses in the United States, were approximately 27,000 planes. Of these losses 8,700 were on combat missions; the remainder were training, ferrying and other noncombat losses. Of the combat losses over 60 percent were to antiaircraft fire. http://www.anesi.com/ussbs01.htm
In the attack by Allied air power, almost 2,700,000 tons of bombs were dropped, more than 1,440,000 bomber sorties and 2,680,000 fighter sorties were flown. The number of combat planes reached a peak of some 28,000 and at the maximum 1,300,000 men were in combat commands. The number of men lost in air action was 79,265 Americans and 79,281 British. [Note: All RAF statistics are preliminary or tentative.] More than 18,000 American and 22,000 British planes were lost or damaged beyond repair. http://www.anesi.com/ussbs02.htm0355名無し三等兵2018/07/09(月) 06:55:04.44ID:5gn4S1Ao>>345 1944年5月8日に英空母エンペラーから発進したF6Fがノルウエー沖を飛行中にドイツ空軍のBf109とFw190と交戦してF6F損失0で3機撃墜
Removing Japan from these lands - which fell primarily to the United States- proved no easy task. Imperial Japanese soldiers surrendered at appallingly low rates. According to some sources, only one to three percent of Japanese forces surrendered throughout the war, and only one third of these troops actually wanted to surrender (the rest were too sick or wounded to commit suicide or continue fighting.) As a result, most estimates suggest that America’s casualty rate in the Pacific theater was about three and a half times larger than in Europe
ハーバード大学卒業、冷戦下にモスクワ大学に留学歴があり、世界史の著作を多数執筆している歴史家 ジョージ・ファイファーは、アメリカ側の沖縄戦書籍としては、最も詳細なものの一つとなる著書Tennozan: The Battle of Okinawa and the Atomic Bombの中で「前年の夏にノルマンディを防御した一部のドイツ軍部隊は、 極めて多い死傷者にも関わらず、持ち堪え、逆襲すら行って、連合軍指揮官に強い感銘を与えた。 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%B2%96%E7%B8%84%E6%88%A6

Chowringhee On the night of 6-7th March twelve gliders were flown into the second landing site Chowringhee and another airstrip was constructed. Next night Dakotas began bringing in 2 battalions from 111th Brigade into Chowringhee from Tulihal. By 8th March a force of 1,200 men, 200 mules and their equipment and ammunition had been flown in. After this Chowringhee was abandoned because it was found to be vulnerable to ground and air attack. A few hours after it was evacuated Chowringhee was bombed by the Japanese air force. http://www.chindits.info/Thursday/OperationThursday.htm
