おお、俺はずっと自分でスレを建てようとしても、この一年くらい
「立たなかった」んだけど、今日、奇跡的に立ったぞお。
Edgar Allan Poe とか Lord Byron とか Wordsworth とか、
あるいは Charles Bukowsky とか、ともかくいろんな詩人が書いた
英語の詩について語りたい。他の言語の詩を排除はしたくないんだけど、
一応は英語の詩に限っておくね。

ほいでもって、このスレにも嵐さんたちが疾風怒濤の如く吹きすさぶとは
思うけど、頑張って続けて行こう。

今、手元にないけど、英語の詩って難しいけど朗読の響きは美しいですね。

ご存知だとは思うけど、英語の詩だけでなく、著作権の切れた文学作品なら、ネット上でいくらでも読めるよね。
その中でも、詩は、例の Project Gutenberg だけでなく、たくさんのウェブサイトで
有名な詩人の全作品を整理して掲載している。たとえば、

ジョン・ダンいこか。日本語のwiki充実してるよ。

ジョン・ダンの日本における評価とかは知らん。
けど、昔日本で「知の巨人」とかちやほやされた人が、「日本で詩人つったら3人」って言った、
その3人のうちの一人が、死ぬ間際にジョン・ダンの詩の一部をパクったって知られてる程度には知名度ある。

押韻は上から順にaabbccddd。まあ分かると思うけど。
あと、ドラマチックモノローグ。誰か想定された相手（それは読者の想像力に任される）
に語りかけるように詩は進んでいく。これダンの得意技。

wikiには
＞たとえば、『蚤（The Flea）』という詩では、型破りなことに、恋人たちの血を吸う蚤がセックスのメタファーに使われている
ってあるけど、それ以外にも例えてる。イメージはコロコロ変わっていく。

ダンの凄さは人が思いつかないような具体的イメージや抽象的イメージを結びつけて見せたことにある。
それがメタフィジカルコンシート(metaphysical conceit)って技法って呼ばれてて、
そこから形而上学詩人のパイオニアとかって呼ばれてるんだけどどうでしょう。

John Donne って、すごく面白い人なんだね。16世紀という大昔のイギリスに、こんなにまで現代的感覚を持った面白い詩人がいたなんて、
不思議だ。いっぺんにファンになっちゃった。この The Flea という詩の和訳と解説をしてるサイトがあるね。
