今、Walt WhitmanのLeaves of Grass「草の葉」にある

って詩を読んでて疑問に思ったのですが

２部の頭にある
"The love of the body of man or woman balks account, the body itself balks account"
って文章はどんな意味なのでしょうか？
特にbalks accountってのが難しいです
balkっていろんな意味があって中にperfectって意味もあるようなのでおそらく詩の
流れからこれだと思うんですがaccountって？
