Putting aside our woeful performance, I'm glad Japan got to the world cup. I respect them and everything they've done with football, especially their massive advances they've made since the 90s. Good country all around.
Let's hope our mutual respect for each other will result in Japan putting in a respectful performance next week to help us qualify too.

Tony Popovic would be far better suited to the rigors of Asian WC qualifying. A strong defence, no bullshit passing out from the back at every opportunity and play on the counter. That's how you beat these teams.

I like how we have a rivalry with japan without any bad feeling. They dont dive or hack and there is no disrespect from their players or fans. They were the better team tonight, and that second goal was something to behold.

Juric had a tap in on 70 but he went to ground early and Sakai got to it. So close. Disappointed. Everything that wasn't vital for victory worked. We had possession, won lots of ball and got into their area. Nothing critical was done well.
